Dr. Tae-Hwan Kwon received an M.D. and Ph.D. from the School of Medicine at Kyungpook National University. He was educated and trained as a nephrologist in the Department of Internal Medicine at Kyungpook National University Hospital, Korea. Also, he was trained as a cell biologist in the Department of Cell Biology at Aarhus University, Denmark, where he received a doctorate (Doctor of Medical Science: DMSc). Since 2004, Dr. Kwon has been a professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, and was the former director of the BK21 PLUS Biomedical Convergence Program at Kyungpook National University (2013–2020). He was also a visiting professor at the Water and Salt Research Center, Aarhus University, Denmark (2000–2011) and a guest professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, Denmark (2018).
